Available for new projects from January 2027

I design calm, clear products for complex problems.

I'm Elise, a senior UX and product designer based in Lisbon. For eleven years I've helped health, finance and climate teams turn tangled workflows into software people genuinely enjoy using.

02 / About

Designing with people, not just for them

I started out in a small agency designing booking flows, and quickly realised I cared more about the people using a product than the pixels on the screen. Since then I've worked in-house at a fintech scale-up, led a design team through rapid growth and partnered with founders on their very first release.

Today I work independently with teams building something genuinely complex: clinical tools, financial infrastructure, energy platforms. I bring research, interaction design and design systems together, and I stay close to engineering so good ideas survive all the way to launch.

Where I can help

Engagements run from a two-week research sprint to six months embedded with your team. Pick one area, or bring me in from the first interview to launch day.

  • Product discovery

Workshops, research and prioritisation that turn a fuzzy brief into a product direction the whole team believes in.

    • Stakeholder workshops
    • Opportunity maps
    • Roadmap input
  • User research

Interviews, diary studies and usability tests that show what people really need, not what we assume they need.

    • Research plans
    • Interview synthesis
    • Usability reports
  • UX & interaction design

Flows, wireframes and prototypes for complex, data-heavy products, tested before a single line of code is written.

    • User flows
    • Wireframes
    • Interactive prototypes
  • UI & visual design

Polished, accessible interfaces with a clear hierarchy, so the important things are always the obvious things.

    • High-fidelity UI
    • Interaction specs
    • Motion guidelines
  • Design systems

Tokens, components and documentation that help teams ship consistent work faster, in Figma and in code.

    • System audits
    • Component libraries
    • Documentation
  • Accessibility

Audits and fixes against WCAG 2.2, plus hands-on training so inclusive design becomes a team habit.

04 / Process

A simple process for messy problems

Every project is different, but the rhythm stays the same: understand deeply, decide together, test early and measure what matters.

05 / Kind words

What clients say

  • Elise has a rare talent for making complicated things feel obvious. Our clinicians stopped asking for training sessions, because the new intake flow simply made sense.

Dr. Amara OkaforChief Medical Officer, Fernway Health
  • She didn't just redesign our dashboard, she changed how our whole company talks about trust. Customers mention the audit trail in almost every renewal call.

    Tomás HerreraVP of Product, Ledgerline
  • Elise brought research, design and engineering into the same room from week one. We shipped a better app in twelve weeks than we had managed in a year.
